Bugger Me
And Sod Off
Owned a pub by the sea
They hated the public
That means you and me
When entering their establishment
If they let you through the door
They would eye you up and down
Make you shrink to the floor
With some apology
If you ask them for a drink
They’ll stare in stony silence
Their eyes will not blink
Then words are spoken
Sounds in the air
Not directed to anyone
As though they didn’t care
‘Bugger me I heard a voice
someone wanting ale’
‘Sod of is what I say,
give them coffin and a nail’
They were both teetotallers
Having signed the pledge
They only took the pub on
Because it was on the water’s edge
They saw it as their duty
Being rude and unpleasant
To drive the evil spirits
From a nation of peasants
